At long last, the classic gameplay of Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and 3 is getting a worthy successor. Neatherrealm Studios' Mortal Kombat reboot will be hitting sometime in 2011, offering up confirmed stereocopic 3D images on the PS3. The game itself is still played on a 2D plane like previous entries in the series, but the stereoscopic 3D enhancements should make the special combos and fatalities better (and more gory) than ever.

All I can say is, "Get over here!"

Here's a sneak peek:

This looks awesome. Mortal Kombat seems to be a really natural fit for 3D, even though the game is played on a 2D plane. I'm loving the idea of being able to see some of my favorite (and new) fatalities in glorious, gory 3D. After all, Mortal Kombat has always been about the imagery, not really the gameplay, in my opinion.

I especially how they give Kung Lao (my favorite character) a lot of love in this video.

I'm with hyabusha; I think it's going to rock. My top two favorite characters I'm looking forward to playing in 3D is Baraka and Scorpion.

The developers are really liking the 3D stuff In their game. I can't wait to see the backgrounds while fighting. How amazing their going to look, and the cool camera angles they will show during Fatality's! Scorpion and Sub-Zero for me!!

My question is why wont sony put up more videos in 3d on the playstation network. It would be great if I could see these videos in 3d like the E3 sizzle trailer.

It was removed from the 3D Sizzle trailer on PSN. Probably because of the violence. What a shame....

3D FOREVER!!!
