Sony Cuts PS3 Price
This could be the year that you add on a gaming device. Nintendo recently announced a price drop on the 3DS. Now, another 3D-enabled device can be had at a discount: Sony's PlayStation3.
Sony says that they will drop the console's retail price by $50, starting on August 18, 2011. That will make the 160GB version $249, with the 320GB model going for $299. Amazon already has the new prices listed, meaning you can snag those discounts right now.
As of March 2011, Sony says they've sold about 50 million PS3 consoles so far.

Besides the 3D capabilities, the PS3 can play Blu-ray discs and both 2D and 3D games. There's also another 60,000 games and videos available for download via the PlayStation Network. Sony recently added motion to the gaming experience, with the PlayStation Move motion controller.
The price reduction comes on the same day as Sony's official announcement that they will be adding social networking aspects to the upcoming PlayStationVita, which will be released in the U.S. in 2012.
