Treyarch Adds 3D Support to Call of Duty: Black Ops

Activision Publishing and game developer Treyarch have announced that the next installment of the immensely popular Call of Duty franchise, known as Call of Duty: Black Ops, will be playable in digital stereoscopic 3D on the Sony Playstation 3, XBOX 360, and PC platforms.

Call of Duty: Black Ops will be the first highly anticipated, blockbuster-level title to receive 3D support, as well as the second game to receive stereoscopic 3D support on the XBOX 360.

"Development of stereoscopic 3D began as an R&D project, but once we saw what the technology brought to the Call of Duty experience, what a great fit and how immersive it was, we knew that we had to develop it for Black Ops," says Mark Lamia, Studio Head of Treyarch.  "Aiming down the sights of your weapons, flying in helicopters, rappelling down mountains, and moving through highly detailed environments are just some of the awesome experiences you will have in 3D with Black Ops."

For those new to 3D, playing Black Ops in 3D on the XBOX 360 or Playstation 3 requires a digital 3D capable television (supporting , and whatever associated hardware your TV requires ). Xbox 360 users need a television that supports a “side by side” 3D mode. PlayStation 3 users need a television that supports a “top-bottom” or “over-under” 3D mode.

PC users will be able to play using Nvidia's 3D Vision technology, which requires a supported monitor.

Can't wait for this game in 3d. It's the 1st 3D first-person-shooter coming to the consoles. Also zombies reaching their hand out of my TV screen to get me before I blow their heads off. Hell ya! As long as i dont get any brains on my carpet, lol. It's going to be out of this world. Thank you Treyarch!!

Steroscopic is greyed out during multiplayer. Havn't tried it on regular game play. Running PS3 HDMI to Denon 1911 HDMI 1.4 to a Samsung 7000 series 3D TV.

Damn that sucks Auditionhts. For some reason your ps3 is not recognizing that it is connected to a 3dtv. Two things i can think of is 1) make sure your 3dtv has lastest firmware update via internet. 2)try to adjust 3d settings to force 3d. On my 3dtv the default setting for 3d is automatic, but you can force 3d in other options. Black Ops runs in Side by Side 3d so look for that setting if it has one. Hope it helps.
