Panasonic to Open 3D Innovation Center

Panasonic is in New York for the US Open. They are part of the big 3D broadcast. So naturally, they were talking up the technology as well.

Aside from announcing two new 3D-compatible Blu-ray home theater systems, the company says they will open up a 3D Innovation Center this fall. Based in the U.S., the center will be part of the Panasonic campus, which is located in Secaucus, New Jersey. They are also hoping to branch out to L.A., since that's where all of the good (and bad) 3D stuff goes down.

"Panasonic foresees the expansion of 3D technology into nearly all aspects of the entertainment electronics industry, but we also see it being applied in a diverse range of other industries including healthcare, education, and beyond," said Joseph M. Taylor, Chairman and CEO of Panasonic. "It is only a matter of time before 3D becomes an essential element in the operations of many major enterprises and the new Panasonic 3D Innovation Center will work to support that process."

This will be the first Panasonic 3D Innovation Center in the U.S., but not the first elsewhere. They currently have one operating in Japan. Also, the company just announced plans for the Panasonic European 3D Innovation Center.

Aside from promoting innovation, the Center will also serve as a spot where all of the industries and other players can get together to collaborate on new applications and other 3D services.
