Saw VII Gets Official Title, Trap Details
Not too long ago, we learned that there would be a new Saw movie. Even better (or yuckier), it will be in 3D. In case you are counting, the seventh installment of Saw will soon be upon us. However, you'd never know that from the title.
According to Shock Till You Drop, the actual movie title will be Saw 3D. Why? Because calling the movie Saw VII 3D would have been too much, says producer Oren Koules. Wow. Way to pinpoint the audience.
"Saw VII 3D is too much. This is like a new movie," he says. "There are, I think, eleven traps in this movie. To have that many traps, it's just a completely different experience for the hardcore fans."
Aside from the new traps and break in the title chain, this movie marks the return of Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride), who starred in the very first installment. This film also comes with the tagline: "The Traps Come Alive."
"The only reason there is a tagline is we didn't want to confuse people and make them think we re-did the original Saw in 3D," says producer Mark Burg. "This is brand-new 3D technology. We talked about shooting six and then converting it in 3D, but we didn't like the quality of it."
Hopefully, quality won't even be a question. Although Burg says he doesn't want to overhype the upcoming film, he can't seem to control himself. "Saw 3D is Saw on steroids," he promises.
We shall see when Saw 3D hits 3D theaters on October 22, 2010.
