Jim Henson Was Into 3D
We knew Jim Henson was a visionary. Kermit the Frog, Dr. Teeth and even Guy Smiley were all way ahead of their time. Who knew he was all about the 3D, though?
Jim's daughter, Lisa Henson, recently told Reuters that The Jim Henson Co. will move into the 3D realm because that's what her dad would have wanted. She said he was into 3D, as well as computer animation and digital imagery.
She didn't say anything about selling original characters to the Disney company, but that's for another article...
For now, The Jim Henson Co. is planning a sequel to 1982's The Dark Crystal, and yes -- it will be in 3D. The Power of the Dark Crystal will also include CGI, and focus on a world set hundreds of years after the original. Both Lisa and Brian Henson will serve as executive producers.
Peter and Michael Spierig will direct The Power of the Dark Crystal. If all goes well, the film could see a 2013 release.
